Disaster Services

Calmar Disaster Services develops and maintains the local Emergency Operation Plan that is in place for the community. The plan was developed by Emergency Management Alberta and offers prompt and effective response to natural and man-made disasters.

The Town's Comprehensive Municipal Emergency Plan outlines the roles and responsibilities of all involved in ensuring that essential services are provided during an emergency. It sets out the roles and responsibilities of the Mayor and Town Councillors, and of Town departments. It also spells out coordination with community agencies – area hospitals, local school boards, utilities such as gas, power and telephone, and non-government agencies such as Canadian Red Cross Society, Salvation Army.

Responses will come from local resources and predetermined mutual aid partners with other communities, such as the County of Leduc, the City of Leduc, the Town of Beaumont, the Town of Devon, the Village of Thorsby and the Village of Warburg.
