Sean-Carnahan

Mayor Sean Carnahan

Sean Carnahan and his wife moved to Calmar in 2006 with their 2 children who completed school in our local state of the art schools. He has been involved in community-based organizations such as Scouts, Minor Soccer, Minor Hockey, and Slo-Pitch.

Sean has a 10-year background in public accounting and 17 years in oil gas sector as a controller. He sat on the Calmar Economic Development Committee, where a 5-year economic plan was constructed for presentation to council to spur on local sustainable growth within Calmar.

Sean’s goal as Mayor is to listen to the community and action viable opportunities and solutions that spur future growth and development of our great community, while holding onto the things that have made Calmar great today.

Councillor Carey Benson

Carey Benson has lived in Calmar for almost 4 years now. He along with his girlfriend Katie and their cat, Acorn, call Calmar home. Carey has sat on many different boards and committee’s while in his term on council. He currently sits on the Calmar Public Library Board, the 39/20 Alliance and sits as the Vice-Chair of the Leduc County FCSS Advisory Board. Carey is always striving to have more youth have a chance to speak about things that affect them in Calmar and always has them in mind when making decisions at council meetings. Carey wants to see Calmar grow and be the best town in Alberta. Please do reach out to Carey for either a coffee and chat or to express your thoughts and concerns you may have about Calmar.

Fun Fact: Carey has been working as a Welder/Fitter since 2011 and has built and installed many different steel products in and around the Edmonton region. He enjoys building complex structures and is always up for a challenge. While not working Carey likes to travel and be out in nature. Carey has travelled to 32 different countries and even worked a summer in Switzerland. On his last trip he volunteered at the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea 2023.

Carey-Benson
Jaime-McKeag-Reber

Councillor Jaime McKeag-Reber

Jaime McKeag Reber has lived in Calmar for over 9 years with her husband and her two small children. Jaime serves in her first term as Councilwoman and considers herself an advocate for family living and small business. She has learned a lot over the last few years while serving on various boards such as the Recreation Board, Communities in Bloom, Library Board and Market on Main to name a few.

You may have seen her around town planting flowers, leading fundraising initiatives for our local Rec programs and assets or flipping pancakes at the Town held Breakfasts. If you see her out and about, be sure to say Hi.

Councillor Krista Gardner

Krista Gardner was first elected to council in a by-election held in August 2016, she was re-elected in 2017 and most recently again in 2021. In her time in office, Krista has served on almost every committee or board the Town is involved in. She currently represents Calmar on the Capital Region Southwest Water Services Commission, Edmonton Region Waste Minimization Advisory Board and Leduc County Fire Services Advisory Committee, while also being a member of the Calmar & District Recreation Board, Asset Management Committee and Youth Council Committee. Krista was elected by her fellow elected officials to serve as Director for Towns West on the Association of Alberta Municipalities Board in 2022 and was further elected to Vice-President of Towns for ABMunis in 2023. Her role at ABMunis allows her to participate in a variety of additional boards and committees, greatly enhancing her understanding of municipal issues and their potential impacts on Calmar. Krista has consistently demonstrated her commitment to fostering growth in Calmar and providing leadership to enhance our community. She has been a resident of Calmar for over 17 years and has 3 children who were born here, including one during her time as Councillor in the previous term! Krista is proud to raise her family here and to continue to work on behalf of the residents of Calmar. Krista holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Alberta and has worked in the mental health field, particularly with families and children. She is a passionate advocate for children, youth, and families in our community and amongst her many work projects, maintains a full schedule of volunteering. Krista always has a ready ear to listen to residents’ concerns and is dedicated to making Calmar a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place to live, work and play.

Don-Faulkner

Councillor Don Faulkner

My family and I moved to Calmar in 1993. My children attended school in Calmar and still consider it their hometown. I have been on many town boards/committees and am a member of community-based organizations such as the Calmar CARES, Calmar Legion, Calmar Seniors Club and the Dart league to mention a few.

I have served on Council for 18 years, 10 as Mayor and 8 as a Councillor, being first elected in 1998. My goal over the remainder of this term is to be a positive influence on the Town Council, using my experience, insight, and knowledge to assist in making sound decisions for the betterment of our community.

I believe that High Performance Governance is all about our Organizational Ability to Lead, Imagine New Possibilities and Achieve Operational Excellence.
