The Town of Calmar's waste is trucked to County of Leduc Regional Landfill, which is located 4km East of Leduc on Rollyview Road.

FACTS ABOUT GARBAGE CARTS:

* The carts are property of Evergreen Ecological Services. They stay with the home where they are delivered.

* Carts should not be damaged/modified in any way, including adding a lock.

* The carts can hold the equiivalent of 3-4 garbage bags.

Recycling

The Town of Calmar is proud to offer the Blue Bag recycling program for the residents of Calmar and area.

Residents are encouraged to recycle, compost and/or mulch.

Blue Bag Pickup is every other Monday at the CurbSide(front yard)

We are currently accepting the following products for recycling in the Blue Bag:

  • Newsprint
  • Computer Paper
  • Mixed paper
  • Cardboard
  • Tin cans
  • Glass jars
  • Colored plastic
  • Plastic Milk jugs (At Bob's Bottle Return)

Please aid in the efficiency of the recycling process by sorting, flattening and cleaning the products.

Bobs Bottle Return, 4912-50th Ave., accepts all bottles and cans. They also accept all liquid milk product containers. Please "swish & squish" your containers. Phone 985 - 2155 for further details.

 

Other Recycling Programs

Grass Clippings

Collection runs from May through October.

Clippings must be placed in non-coloured clear plastic bags, in the front yard; they will not be collected if not in specified bags and location.
Pick up day is every Monday.

Laser & Inkjet Cartridges / Rechargeable Batteries

Drop boxes for both are located at the Town Office.

Spring & Fall Clean-Ups

Spring Clean Up runs in May: the week before Victoria Day. Fall Clean Up runs in October: the week before Thanksgiving to the Friday of that week. For both clean-ups please note that we DO NOT TAKE concrete, tires, propane bottles, appliances, automotive parts, paint, oil, antifreeze or chemicals. Maximum pick-up: 1 tonne per residence. Branches to be bundled in 3-foot bundles; also, please put metal in a separate pile.

Electronics Recycling

An Electronics Recycling collection day is held after Spring Clean-Up week. We accept many items such as but not limited to TVs, VCRs, hard drives, monitors, telephones, cell phones, radios, and fax machines. For more information contact the Town Office.
