Regional Attractions

Come home to Calmar, where residents enjoy small town living with easy access to big city amenities. Just a short drive from Alberta's capital city, Calmar is a quaint rural community surrounded by beautiful green space.

Calmar offers residents a growing assortment of local amenities, including an elementary school, and secondary school, a public library and senior's housing. The town is served by its own Fire & Rescue department, and excellent health, dental and chiropractic care are available at the town clinics. Residents keep active with local recreation clubs and sports venues including a community arena complete with a curling rink.

As part of the Capital Region, Calmar is just a short drive from the south or west side of the City of Edmonton. This means easy access to fantastic shopping, dining and recreation, including the West Edmonton Mall- the largest shopping mall in North America. As well as being surrounded by recreational destinations such as Wizard Lake and Pigeon Lake.

Want a completely different experience? There are many festivals throughout the year and some very interesting guided tours. What about a Ghost Tour, or alternatively, a stroll through the Muttart Conservatory for a look at ecosystems? The Valley Zoo offers a great family outing and the Royal Alberta Museum opens the doors of history. For re-living history take a trip to Fort Edmonton and the Cultural Ukrainian Heritage Village.

Those who prefer woodlands, natural areas and flowers can enjoy both the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary and the Devonian Botanic Gardens within easy driving distance.

Mountains, lakes and badlands, Alberta is a mix of all three. Jasper National Park is a day trip as is the Royal Tyrrell Museum for budding paleontologists.

Industries might note the proximity of Calmar to the Nisku Industrial Park, which is one of the biggest in Canada, and is a major employer basis. The Edmonton International Airport is also scheduled to expand into Port Alberta, a huge incentive for any incoming industry with a potential rail link that runs parallel to Calmar’s own Industrial Park.
