B.C. Camp Extremely Grateful for a Calmar Business’ Generous Donation

Agur Lake Camp is B.C.’s only wilderness campground for people with various disabilities as well as their families and caregivers.

With paved paths around the lake and through the wilderness, accessible basketball courts, fishing dock, and fire area, the camp relies heavily on their generators to keep the camp operating during its open season.

“The generators are the lifeline of our camp,” Office Manager for Agur Lake Camp, Debbie Schneider said.

So when a generator broke down they called the company they bought the generators from to help get them fixed. Frank Rathmann and George Latka with Latmann Generators & Equipment, made the journey all the way from Calmar, Alta. to the Camp located in the Summerlands close to Kelowna, B.C.

However, after the repairs, Agur Lake Camp was shocked when Latmann Generators & Equipment donated the entire cost of their repairs and hours chargeable back to the camp.

The donation was over $12,000.

Schneider said that the camp was overwhelmed and overjoyed at the Alberta business’ generosity. Due to COVID-19 the camp was unable to hold their annual fundraisers which are a major source of the funds needed to run the camp.

“We wanted to thank them immensely,” said Schneider. “We really appreciated this donation and it came at a perfect time.”

Schneider said that the camp wanted to reach out to a local news provider in Latmann Generators & Equipment area to let them and the community around them know how much their donation meant.
