Calmar is small town living for all it’s worth

—gratefully out of touch with the grinding shoulder-to-shoulder and bumper-to-bumper existence of Leduc and Edmonton while just minutes from big city amenities and attractions, and even bigger lake recreation, including swimming, fishing, boating, camping and snowmobiling, at both Wizard and Pigeon Lakes.

Local essential amenities include elementary and secondary schools, a public library, and senior’s housing. The Town is served by its own Fire & Rescue department, and offers excellent health, dental, and chiropractic care at Town clinics. Residents keep active with local recreation clubs and sports venues, including a community arena complete with a curling rink.

As part of the Capital Region, Calmar is just a short drive from the Nisku Industrial Park (which is one of the biggest in Canada), from the Edmonton International Airport (which is scheduled to expand into Port Alberta, a huge incentive for any incoming industry, with a potential rail link that runs parallel to Calmar’s own Industrial Park), from major highway transportation corridors, including the QEII connecting Alberta’s major centres, and from the south and west sides of the City of Edmonton; offering easy access to fantastic shopping, dining, recreation, and the West Edmonton Mall — the largest shopping mall in North America.

Aptly referred to as Festival City, Edmonton boasts over 50 festivals annually, including the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival, and the Edmonton Heritage Festival—known as the world’s largest outdoor celebration of multiculturalism. The Valley Zoo, Muttart Conservatory, Elk Island Natural Park, and the Devonian Botanic Gardens offer memorable family outings enjoying the wonders of nature, wildlife and ecosystems, while Fort Edmonton, the Cultural Ukrainian Heritage Village, and the Royal Alberta Museum open their doors to history, culture, and education.
